Nick Bilton: Desirable number one

What would you do if you were offered a hosting and writing position to the tune of 1.5 million dollars, a book deal of at least 1 million dollars and more than 300k annual compensation? Apparently, you go your own way and you turn it down. Mr. Nick Bilton, an NYtimes tech writer was handed this generous offer by CNET, along with its parent company, CBS but humbly turned it down.

Mr. Nick Bilton is one of the most prominent curators in the tech scene. Working for nytimes for almost years as its lead tech writer, NYU/ITP adjunct professor and a distinguished author, Mr. Bilton became a household name amongst the technologically savvy. And for a guy whose only background is in design, Mr. Bilton turned down offers from several publications like Huffington Post and was desirable number one at TechCrunch when Mr. Arrington was still in charge.

Mr. Bilton decided to stay and write with his beloved nytimes family, earning about 150k annually, a meager but acceptable sum compared to the CBS/CNET offer but hey, it's not about the money right? He will be launching a book this October, which I'm sure got the free publicity after this million dollar brouhaha.
